Venus
24x24 (60x60 cm)
mixed media using cloth, enamel, and oil paint on plaster board
2200
I asked my 4-year-old granddaughter what I should call this. She had been studying the planets with her mother and said, "It looks like Venus!" Therefore, this piece is named for the celestial body. The fabric that I used is from a Saree and still has the sequins that is now embedded in the painting. Its contrast, gradient light, and analogous colors that vary from blues to purples, and the silver leaf, represent the Goddess of Love.
