This piece started life a nameless, non-representational painting but in a show, a viewer saw it as a seahorse. I loved that! I love abstract paintings for that reason. I refer to it as viewer participation. It's easy for me as an artist to say, "This is a tree" but in abstract art the person viewing it gets to tell me what they see.
