shell
48x60 (120x150 cm)
mixed media using cloth, enamel, and oil paint on recycled canvas
The inspiration for this piece was a Calla Lily but as the paint application proceeded, it became more and more like a shell. The swirling elements of the texture that would sculpted under the fabric with aluminum foil, along with the soft contrasting colors give this piece its name. The sheer size of the large, gallery wrapped canvas, is impressive and places you inside the piece so much so, you expect to hear the ocean.
