The piece is not only textured with cloth, but the Phoenix head that is pulling out of the twisting fabric was formed out of clay and then poured in resin. The subject visually expresses what my Native American teacher told me; my power totem is the Phoenix. This makes a lot of sense. How many times have I burned my life to the ground just to rebuild?
